We all love the convenience of online shopping but are a bit reluctant to use our credit cards online.


A new technology based on interoperability between 3 domains known as 3 D Secure  has been introduced by International Payment Companies that allow the Cardholder’s bank to authenticate him during purchase at a 3 D Secure participating merchant online transaction
 
 

What is Verified By Visa?
"Verified by Visa" is a simple-to-use service that confirms your identity with an extra password when you make an online transaction at participating online retailers. It is just like entering your PIN at an ATM.
 

Why should I register for Verified by Visa?
It allows you to get an extra layer of security when you shop online at participating online merchants. When you enter correctly your VbV code, you confirm that you are the authorized cardholder and your purchase is completed. If an incorrect VBV code is entered, the purchase will not be completed. Even if someone knows your card number, the purchase cannot be completed without your VBV code at a participating online retailer.

 

How do I identify participating online retailers?
You will see the display of the Verified By Visa symbol on the website.

What does it cost me?
Credit Libanais SAL has already pre enrolled your Visa Classic, Gold, Platinum and Euro cards free of charge. You just need to register the cards and activate the service

 
 

How will this affect my current online shopping experience?
Currently the online merchants requests you card number, expiry date and CVV2.

With VBV , you will be required to enter your VBV password.

 

How many cards can I register free of charge, what about supplementary cards issued on my banking account?
All the pre enrolled cards by Credit Libanais SAL can be registered free of charge. There is no limit on how many cards you can register. Each card needs to be registered separately and have a separate Password.

 

Can I use Verified By Visa from any computer?
There is no special software to install. All you need is a computer that is connected to the internet, the latest browser if possible.

 

How do I shop with Verified By Visa?
When you pay with your Credit Libanais SAL pre enrolled Visa card, the Verified by Visa service launches automatically at participating online retailers.

After you enter your Visa card number and submit your order, a Verified By Visa window with Credit Libanais SAL logo will be displayed.

 

For first time use, an authentication page will be displayed requesting some Personal Information to authenticate you as the genuine cardholder. Once you reply correctly to the personal information, Credit Libanais SAL will authenticate your replies and prompt you to create a Password and a Personal Message.
Then your check out will continue.

For subsequent uses, since the Password and Personal Message have already been created, you will only be required to submit your Password after reviewing the details of your purchase and checking if the Personal Message displayed back to you is correct.

 

What is a Personal Message?

Your Personal Message, you selected during registration, appears automatically in the Verified By Visa password screen during check out. It will assure you that it is safe to enter your password here. You should always check to see that your Personal Message is correct.

  

What is the personal information that I will be asked during registration?
Birth date: dd/mm/yyyy

Select Branch code: 999
Last 6 digits of the mobile number: 999999

 

Does the merchant have access to my Personal Information?
No the merchant does not have access to your personal information. All the information entered on the pages branded with Credit Libanais SAL logo is not available to the merchant including your Password.

 

What if I forget my Password? What if I want to change my Password?
Just click the “Forgot your Password” link in the Verified By Visa password window and follow the instructions provided by entering the Personal Information to identify you and allow you to create a new password. Always be sure to keep your Password safe and never write it down.

 

What if I enter the Password incorrectly?
You have 3 attempts with incorrect password after which you will need to click on “Forgot your Password” to Reset your Password after successfully replying to the Personal Information questions.

 

What is my Password Policy?
When you set your password , please make sure it corresponds to the following requirements: Minimum 8 characters, maximum 10 and least 1 numeric character

 

What happens if I cancel my existing card and get a new one with a different number?
You will need to register the new card for the Verified by Visa service.
